Take Control Of Your Weight Loss

So you are stuck and can't lose those last few pounds? Haven't Gotten the six pack just yet? Are you still struggling to the striations and definite muscle separations? With so many variables that could be holding you back, where would we start? It could be genetic, maybe you just don't have the body type to get as lean as you want.

Or perhaps you schedule doesn't allow you to train or eat the way you would like. Maybe living the healthy lifestyle is just too darn expensive and you have to revert back to the cheaper way of living. Or like hundreds and thousands of people put there you are still searching for the best workout program or the best diet to help shed that last bit of stubborn body fat.

When it boils down to it, we all need to take responsibility for ourselves. I know no one likes to hear that and I know you are thinking, ' How can I possibly do all of the things I should do? I have a REAL life!" At times it can feel like there is just too much to do just to look good. We need to be disciplined, focused, and motivated. We have to buy the right kinds of food, according to the glycemic index, protein content, and amount of fat. We need to decide if we are going to be low car,b no carb, low fat, high fat, no fat, high protein, or maybe we just shouldn't eat at all!

The things we have to do to stay in great shape and look the part must be done on a daily, and even hourly basis. With so many decisions it is no wonder so many of us fall short of high expectations we set for ourselves. I'm sure you know the feeling I'm talking about, and believe me you are not alone.

I'm about to share with you some of the things that have helped me as well as the many of people I have coached in the past through those hard times when it feels like your world is crumbling around you. These tips and guidelines are easy and small adjustments that will defiantly make a big different in helping you take control of your weight loss.

Find A Mentor

A mentor is simply someone you can identify with. Someone that demonstrates the qualities you would like to demonstrate. This person doesn't necessarily need to be a fitness icon, nor does it need to be someone that you can communicate face to face with. In my quest through the fitness world, I identified with 3 people that I would consider mentors. Those people are Paul Cribb, a exercise physiologist out of Australia, Skip LaCour, A world class bodybuilder, and Anthony Robbins and motivational Speaker.

Paul Cribb is an exercise physiologist and a leading researcher in the field when it comes to nutrition and training. I identified with Paul because we had encountered the same problem with the fitness world. The problem is that there are so many people with such drastically different ideas and opinions along with the shysters that will lie through their teethCribb to make a buck, that is nearly impossible to determine who is right.

To actually get to the real answers, Paul turns to research and science. When people start citing research articles, he reads them to see where they got the idea for some of the claims that they may be making. I adopted that style of thinking years ago and has been the basis or many of the articles that I have written over the years.

The second person I found a strong connection with was, at the amateur bodybuilding icon, Skip LaCour. Skip is known for is unrivaled discipline, dedication, focus and consistency. Skip will develop a plan for him self and execute that plan to the letter every single time with out hesitation.

The one thing that really drew me to skip was is way of approaching food. It wasn't really a form on pleasure for him but more of a tool. Skip eats the same thing at the same time day and day out for years at a time. He will even get up in the middle of the night to eat a scheduled meal if his plan so dictates.

The last person I found a connection with was motivational speaker and author, Anthony Robbins. He has written such books as, Giants Steps, Awaken the Giant Within, etc. Anthony talks on a lot of different topics, but there was one that I had never thought about. It was the way he described emotions. Physically emotions are all the same. When you are excited, your pulse quickens, you begin to breathe heavy, you start to sweat a little, hands may shake, butterflies in the stomach, etc.

However, when you are scared, your pulse quickens, you start to sweat, you begin to breath heavy, hands might shake a little etc. And you can basically describe all emotions exactly the same way. So what makes them different? The context of the situation. You are scared because there is a 120 pound dog running after you looking to tear a limb off. You are excited because your boss just gave you a 30% raise. Anthony does an excellent job of teaching one how do deal with one's own emotions to more easily get what one wants.

The purpose of the mentor or mentors is to help you see that even the most successful people go through the same things as you do. You will then be able to see just how they get through those times. This will help you to develop your own ways of thinking through your problems and you can apply their methods to your weight loss.
